Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can take a short tour around Entebbe, visiting the Botanical Gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. Enjoy an evening at leisure as you prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, drive through the scenic countryside to Kibale Forest National Park, famously known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” The journey offers stunning views of tea plantations, rolling hills, and rural villages. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and relax. In the evening, enjoy a nature walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a haven for bird lovers and primates.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Crater Lake Exploration
Today is dedicated to tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest. After a briefing, head into the forest with your ranger guide to search for these playful primates. Watching them swing from tree to tree is an unforgettable experience. After the trek, return for lunch and later visit the crater lakes region for a scenic tour and cultural encounters with the local communities.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Boat Cruise
Leave Kibale behind and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular safari destination. The park is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, and the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. Upon arrival, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where you will see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds up close. In the evening, relax at your lodge overlooking the savannah.
Day 5: Game Drive & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, where lions, elephants, and antelopes roam freely. After the game drive, embark on a scenic drive through the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions, as you head toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
This is the highlight of your safari – gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, attend a briefing at the park headquarters before venturing into the dense rainforest. Trekking can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you find them, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Later, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest.
Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
After breakfast, cross the border into Rwanda and head to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Enjoy scenic views of the Virunga Volcanoes en route. Day 8: Golden Monkey Tracking & Cultural Tour
Begin your day with golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. These playful and rare primates are a joy to watch as they leap through the bamboo forests. After the trek, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for an authentic Rwandan cultural experience, where you’ll learn about traditional dances, local crafts, and the history of the region.
Day 9: Kigali City Tour
After breakfast, drive to Kigali for a city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a place of remembrance and learning, followed by local markets and art galleries. Kigali is known for its cleanliness and vibrant culture, offering a mix of modernity and tradition. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at one of Kigali’s top restaurants.
Day 10: Departure
