3 Days Wildlife Safari – Murchison Falls National Park

This 3-day wildlife safari takes you to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest national park, famous for its spectacular waterfalls and rich wildlife. The park is home to elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species. The trip includes game drives, a boat cruise to the base of the falls, and a hike to the top of the falls, giving you a complete experience of one of Uganda’s most beautiful destinations.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You will drive northwest towards Murchison Falls, with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking experience. This offers a rare chance to see Uganda’s rhinos in the wild before they are reintroduced into other parks.

After the rhino tracking, continue to Masindi town for lunch before proceeding to the park. Upon arrival, you will visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River is forced through a narrow 7-meter gorge, creating a powerful roar and misty spray. This is one of the most breathtaking sights in Uganda. Later, you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise

Rise early for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, where wildlife is most active at sunrise. With the help of your guide, you will search for lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeests, oribis, and a variety of bird species. The savannah plains, dotted with Borassus palms, make for spectacular photography.

Return to the lodge for a short rest and lunch, then head for the afternoon boat cruise along the Nile River. This three-hour trip takes you to the base of Murchison Falls, passing hippos, Nile crocodiles, and large herds of elephants coming to drink. Bird lovers will enjoy spotting kingfishers, bee-eaters, herons, and the rare shoebill stork. After the cruise, you may choose to hike to the top of the falls for an even closer view before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast, you will check out and start your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Depending on time, you may enjoy a short game drive as you exit the park. Arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 3-day wildlife adventure in Murchison Falls National Park.
