Gorilla Safari3 Days Chimpanzee Tracking Tour – Kibale National Park
This 3-day chimpanzee tracking safari takes you to Kibale National Park, the primate capital of East Africa, home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and 12 other primate species. Located in western Uganda, Kibale offers one of the best chimpanzee tracking experiences in the world, with high chances of sightings. The trip also includes scenic drives through Uganda’s countryside, optional Bigodi Wetland walks, and cultural encounters with local communities.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale National Park
Your driver-guide will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel in Kampala or from Entebbe International Airport. You will embark on a scenic 5–6 hour drive to western Uganda, passing through tea plantations, rolling hills, and traditional homesteads. Along the way, there will be a stop in Fort Portal town for lunch before continuing to the park.
On arrival in Kibale, check in at your lodge and enjoy the serene environment surrounded by tropical rainforest. In the evening, you can relax at the lodge or take a short community walk to learn about the lifestyle and traditions of the Batooro people.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Optional Bigodi Wetland Walk
After an early breakfast, head to the Kibale National Park headquarters for a pre-tracking briefing. Experienced rangers will explain the guidelines for observing chimpanzees and lead you into the forest. The trek usually takes between 2 to 5 hours, depending on the chimpanzees’ location, and along the way, you might also spot black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and a variety of bird species.
Once you find the chimpanzees, spend one unforgettable hour watching them swing through trees, groom each other, and display their playful behavior. This close encounter is a truly magical experience for wildlife lovers.
In the afternoon, you can opt for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk, a guided tour through a community-managed swamp rich in birdlife, butterflies, and primates. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge before starting your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. On the way, you will have opportunities to stop for photographs and to shop for souvenirs from roadside markets. You will arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 3-day chimpanzee tracking adventure.
