Gorilla Trekking2 Days Uganda Short Gorilla Safari
This short but unforgettable safari is perfect for travelers with limited time who want to experience the thrill of encountering the endangered mountain gorillas. Taking you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, this journey combines breathtaking scenery, cultural encounters, and the adventure of trekking through one of Africa’s most pristine rainforests.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your safari begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or from Entebbe International Airport at around 6:00 am. You will set off on a scenic drive towards southwestern Uganda, passing through lush farmlands, roadside markets, and small rural towns. A major highlight along the way is a stop at the Equator in Kayabwe, where you can take memorable photos and witness a water experiment that demonstrates the line dividing the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Afterward, the journey continues through the Ankole region, famous for its long-horned cattle, before stopping for lunch in Mbarara or Kabale. As you approach Bwindi, the landscape changes into rolling green hills, tea plantations, and valleys that are home to the Bakiga and Batwa people. You will arrive in the late afternoon and check in at your lodge, where you can relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the gorilla trekking adventure the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Return to Kampala/Entebbe
The day begins with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will learn about the trekking rules, safety measures, and the gorilla families that live in Bwindi. Equipped with your walking stick and accompanied by experienced guides, you will set off into the dense rainforest in search of your assigned gorilla group.
The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas. The forest is alive with sounds of birds, monkeys, and rustling leaves. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, play, and interact. It is a humbling and life-changing experience to be in the presence of these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
After the trek, you will return to your lodge for an early lunch and begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening.
